“My plan is to play football as much as I can, but I need to prepare my future, of course. I decided to be a coach, so we will see if I have the quality for that, of course.
“I’m always focused on what I have to do on the pitch, but I always try to see what the coaches are doing during the games, during the training, to see and take the best from them.
“I always try to learn. So I’m trying to use that one day.
“I was lucky that, in my career, I’ve had top coaches, so we will see if I can use some of their qualities.”
Matic was one of 18 players snapped by our photographer at Carrington on Monday and, with many of the squad still either in action for their countries or now on holiday, he is set to play an important part in pre-season fixtures with Derby, QPR, Brentford and Everton.
