Awards 2020/21: Time to cast your votes

There is also, of course, the Premier League form to be factored in with United already securing a top-four finish, and therefore a place in next season’s Champions League, with four games to spare. Sunday’s superb 3-1 victory over Aston Villa was our 20th win in the competition this season and there have only been four defeats, three of which were inflicted in the first six fixtures.

Only one team, Manchester City, has scored more league goals than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ever-improving side and even they, on the day, found the Reds too hot to handle with United winning the most recent derby match 2-0 in March. That was one of 18 away league matches in which we have picked up at least one point – another positive result in the 19th, at Wolves on 23 May, will mean we have navigated the entire Premier League season without losing a single game on the road.

In the domestic cups, there were five triumphs to be enjoyed – including away at Everton in the Carabao Cup and at home to Liverpool in the Emirates FA Cup – before the quests for success ended at the semi-final and quarter-final stages respectively.

Voting for the 2020/21 Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, presented by adidas football, will close at 23:59 BST this Sunday, 16 May.
